Book Spine Poetry

At our last Teen Advisory Board meeting (next one: Thursday, Sept. 15, 7-8 PM) I had the teens work on a little project to decorate the room.  It’s actually a creative writing assignment that I saw on the web a few times and wanted to give it a try.  Basically, you place the books on top of each other, spines facing out, and try to create short “poems” with the titles of the books.  Examples are all over, but here are a few online:

So how did the Syosset teens do?  Very well, I’d say.  Take a look!

Stuck in the middle, leaving home after summer, foreign exchange, uncertain endings.

I'll be there next summer, only in your dreams.

Gossip girl into the ravine. Hero in too deep.

Ice shock out of bounds holes scandal.

Catch the man without a face

Little vampire women haunted Massie.

Once upon a time, Lord Brocktree, evil genius, dead. Then?

TTYL Claire. Goodbye.

If you send your examples to splteens@syossetlibrary.org, we’ll add them to the blog.
Have fun!
