Review:
If you are looking for a light and funny show to binge on during the ongoing COVID19 Pandemic, I would highly recommend watching The Great British Bake Off. In a competition-based reality show, twelve amateur bakers face a unique baking challenge each week in hopes of winning the title of “Star Baker” and eventually the crowned champion of the season.
Each episode is distinguished with a certain theme, from bread week to anime week, testing the technical skills of each baker. Further, contestants are put through three rounds of baking each week: The Signature, Technical, and Showstopper. All being essential challenges that test the endurance and talent of each baker. Each contestant is evaluated by highly esteemed judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith to see their true potential of winning the show. A consistent challenge theme that is seen throughout all seasons is “Cake Week”, in which the viewer usually gets to view unique and silly creations.
I truly love this show because while there is an ongoing competition going on, the judges and presenters incorporate a lot of witty humor, which doesn’t make The Great British Bake Off like most standard reality baking shows. Another note to add is that since this is a British-based television show, I have learned a lot of British terms and slang unique to the show’s region, which has been a fun and laughable experience. The Great British Bake Off is seriously the best of its kind and I’d recommend it as a show for families to watch together, as the competition is truly entertaining.
I totally love this show as well! – Mrs. Long
