Intermediate French Podcast (innerFrench)
Original Release: 2017 – present
Created by Hugo, innerFrench podcast started after the creator realized how fulfilling it was to help someone learn something new. However, soon enough, he got tired of using the classic ‘textbook’ method so he decided to adopt a different approach through the world of podcasting.
As referenced by the name, innerFrench is a podcast made for individuals who have a basic knowledge of the French language but aren’t able to completely transition into the fast-paced language immediately. Hosted by Hugo, innerFrench addresses a variety of topics that focus on French culture, technology, and human health. In his podcasts, innerFrench’s founder, Hugo, speaks at a slower pace than natural francophones to ensure that listeners are comprehending his points. He also speaks solely in French, including when he introduces new phrases and words, so that the audience can immerse themselves in the language.
From my personal standpoint of taking French courses for around six years, this podcast is just the right medium for me. The pace and style of the podcast perfectly matches where I am at in my journey to learn a foreign language! In addition to all this,I learn about current events and topics that are occurring globally which expands my knowledge of the world. One of my most favorite episodes was “Apprendre le francais sans vivre dans un pays francophone ” , in which Hugo interviews someone who learned french fluently without living in a french-speaking country. This podcast has definitely enhanced my performance academically as I am able to learn new words and phrases which apply very well to the courses I am currently taking in school.
I didn’t know this existed and really enjoyed listening to it. Thanks for the info! – Mrs. Long
