Open City by Teju Cole

Recently this summer I took time to sit down and read Open City by Teju Cole. The book first caught my interest because I saw it was about an immigrant who shares her everyday view of New York City. Cole did a great job of explaining every little detail that the main character noticed about the city. This made the book very interesting to me. The only thing is that the author went into so much detail that the books pace got very slow. So if you are a reader who loves fast paced or novels filled with action then this may not be for you. Other than that, this book is a great fit for anyone who has an interest in NYC or lives of immigrants.
