How far would you be willing to go to find someone you love? In the movie, Missing, 18-year-old June is someone who normally isn’t one to take things her mom says seriously. The movie is in a unique format where it’s shown through a screen in a way that we can still see June through the camera in her Facetime, but also what she’s doing on her computer. Throughout the movie, we see June staying determined to find her mom and persisting through all the obstacles, regardless of what may come out of it. This thriller was extremely gripping with many twists and turns. I watched Missing with my friend, and around halfway through the movie, we kept pausing it and sharing our ideas of what could happen. There were so many ways the movie could’ve gone. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat with enticing ups and downs, I couldn’t stop watching.
The beginning of Missing starts with a clip of a show called Unfiction. The episode June is watching is from the prequel to the movie, called Searching. I haven’t watched the prequel yet, but I’m very excited to do so.
June is played by the actress Storm Reid, who you may recognize as Gia Bennett from Euphoria or as Riley Abel from The Last of Us. Her performance was phenomenal.
The movie had a tense tone, with every step June takes to find her mom, there are more questions. The background music was very well chosen, especially during scenes with rising suspense and tension, the music exceptionally matched every minute.
Overall, the movie was easy to follow and never lost the grasp of the watcher, with something interesting in every scene. This was a great movie that I wouldn’t get bored of if I watched it again and again.
