Incredibles 2 (2018)
Rated PG, 1 hour 58 minutes
Incredibles 2 is an animated superhero film that serves as a sequel to the 2004 film The Incredibles. The film picks up immediately after the events of the first movie, where the Parr family—consisting of Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible, Helen Parr/Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and baby Jack-Jack—face off against the villainous Underminer. Unfortunately, their actions result in massive property damage, leading to the government shutting down the Superhero Relocation Program that allowed them to use their powers. A little after this Winston Deavor and his sister Evelyn, wealthy siblings who believe that superheroes should regain their positive public image. They approach the Parrs with a proposition: they want to use Elastigirl’s abilities to demonstrate the benefits of superhero activity and pave the way for the legal return of superheroes. Elastigirl agrees, leaving Bob to take care of the kids. As Elastigirl takes on the new role of crime-fighting and media darling, Bob embraces his new responsibilities as a stay-at-home dad. He struggles to manage the challenges of helping Dash with his homework, dealing with Violet’s teenage issues, and discovering Jack-Jack’s different superpowers. While Bob finds parenting more difficult than he expected, a new villain emerges named Screensaver, who uses hypnotic screens to control people’s minds. As the Parrs and their friends work to uncover the mystery behind Screenslaver’s identity, Elastigirl faces thrilling action sequences and learns more about the villain’s motivations. Meanwhile, Jack-Jack’s array of superpowers provides both comedic relief and moments of unexpected danger that are hilarious. As the film hits its climax, the Incredibles must work together to defeat Screenslaver and protect innocent lives in the process. The film culminates in a heartwarming resolution that emphasizes the importance of family unity and cooperation between others. Incredibles 2 combines exhilarating superhero action with heartfelt family moments and humor. Overall, I thought this was a great sequel to the original that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend to others.
