Aladdin (1992
Rated G, 1 hour 30 minutes

The 1992 animated classic “Aladdin,” produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, remains one of the most beloved entries in Disney’s storied canon. Based on the Middle Eastern folk tale from “One Thousand and One Nights,” this adaptation weaves together humor, romance, and adventure in a vibrant, unforgettable tapestry.

The story follows Aladdin, a kind-hearted “diamond in the rough” street rat in the fictional city of Agrabah. His life takes a dramatic turn when he discovers a magical lamp containing a larger-than-life genie, who grants him three wishes. With the help of the Genie, Aladdin embarks on a journey to win the heart of Princess Jasmine and thwart the evil sorcerer Jafar.

“Aladdin” showcases the pinnacle of Disney’s traditional animation, with its lush, colorful landscapes and fluid character movements. Agrabah is brought to life with intricate details, from the bustling marketplace to the opulent palace. The animation of the Genie, in particular, is a testament to the creativity and technical skill of the animators, perfectly capturing Robin Williams’ manic energy and improvisational style.

“Aladdin” is more than just a fairy tale; it explores themes of identity, freedom, and the true nature of wealth. Aladdin’s journey is one of self-discovery, realizing that his worth is not defined by riches or status, but by his character and actions. Jasmine’s desire for autonomy and to marry for love rather than obligation adds depth to her character and provides a progressive perspective on traditional fairy tale princesses.

While “Aladdin” is a product of its time and has been criticized for its portrayal of Middle Eastern culture and characters, it also opened the door for more diverse stories in mainstream animation. The film’s impact on pop culture and its role in promoting multicultural narratives cannot be understated, though it is essential to view it with a critical eye regarding its cultural representations.

“Aladdin” (1992) remains a timeless classic that continues to enchant audiences with its magical storytelling, unforgettable music, and dynamic characters. Its blend of humor, romance, and adventure ensures its place in the pantheon of great animated films. Whether revisiting it for nostalgia or discovering it for the first time, “Aladdin” offers a magical carpet ride that stands the test of time.

Terraria (2011)
Rated T

Terraria is a 2D adventure RPG game that you can play multiplayer or single player. Terraria has reigned as one of the top charting games on steam engine for years and remains one of the most enjoyed and top rated games in steam history. In this game you start out with nothing but a few weapons and a pickaxe. You continue to develop your character by mining and defeating complex bosses along the way. Once you reach the 1st half of the game you have to defeat “The Wall of Flesh” and this acts as a checkpoint and a transition into “hard mode” which brings you into the harder half of the endgame. You complete the game by defeating “The Moon Lord.” This game has a very strong community and released a new update recently.
