Depending on what you’re looking for, this could either be a terrible read or a cozy, feel-good novel. The plot is extremely predictable but satisfying nevertheless. The imagery is immersive, the background characters are 3D and while a little more worldbuilding would have been nice (the setting seems to be similar to the French Revolution), it doesn’t hinder the reader’s understanding of the story. Caz is effectively comic relief with an unexpectedly deep backstory. Kiela is a very relatable heroine, especially for introverts who prefer books to people, but will still step up to help others.
