The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
Lord of the Rings series, book 1
(1954) 432 pages

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a really good start to the trilogy. The characters are well-developed, and the journey to destroy the One Ring is both exciting and emotional. While it can feel a bit slow at times, it’s definitely worth reading.

The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien
Lord of the Rings series, book 2
(1954) 448 pages

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers builds on the first book with more action, drama, and deeper character development. The battles are intense, and the story continues to captivate the reader, especially with the addition of Gollum. While it still has its slow moments, the story delivers a strong middle chapter to the trilogy being the best of the three in my opinion.

The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien
Lord of the Rings series, book 3
(1955) 432 pages

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a thrilling and emotional conclusion to the trilogy, packed with epic battles and powerful moments. The storytelling is top-notch, making the final fight for Middle-earth feel grand. While the multiple endings may feel a bit long, they give a satisfying closure to the unforgettable journey.
