The Lorax (2012)
Rated PG, 1 hour 26 minutes

The Lorax is a vibrant and environmentally themed animated film based on Dr. Seuss’s beloved book. The story follows a young boy named Ted, who lives in a colorless, polluted town called Thneedville. There are no real trees because all the trees have been replaced by artificial ones. The air is controlled by a company. Ted is on a mission to impress Audrey, the girl he likes. He wants to find a real tree, which he believes will win her heart. His journey leads him to the mysterious Once-ler, a figure who recounts the story of how he once cut down all the trees to produce Thneeds. A product that brought him wealth and fame but at the cost of destroying the environment. As the Once-ler shares his story, the film introduces the Lorax, a feisty and wise creature who “speaks for the trees” and tries to protect the natural world from the greed and carelessness of the Once-ler. Through vibrant animation and catchy songs, The Lorax conveys a strong environmental message, urging viewers to take responsibility for the planet’s future. Ted, inspired by the Lorax’s wisdom and the Once-ler’s regret, embarks on a quest to restore the trees and bring hope to Thneedville. The film is a fun and engaging way to teach children about environmentalism and the importance of protecting nature. I like this movie and give it a 8/10
